This month I went to Boulder, CO for a week-long guide training course through the AMGA. The advanced rock guide course consists of several days of guiding practice with instructors, a test of the Rock Rescue Drill, and a day-long guiding exam. I’m excited and proud to say I passed my course and am officially an Assistant Rock Guide. According to the AMGA, I am certified for guiding routes up to commitment grade IV. Examples of these are Ginger Cracks in Las Vegas or Serpentine Arete in the Enchantments in Washington.
